A fabulous night was had by all at The New Beacon Ball on Saturday. The Arabian theme was taken very seriously by some of the guests, I'm sure any Arab prince or princess would have felt at home!

What a busy week!
The last week has been busy for us, running from the RAC Club in Epsom to The Berkshire Golf Club, back to Epsom and finishing off with 2 days in Wales with the fabulous Poppleton & Appleby Golf Classic.
The 27th Poppleton & Appleby
Celebrity Golf Classic at St Pierre
This fabulous event, hosted by Poppleton & Appleby and the Variety Club Golfing Society, has been going for 27 years. I attended my first one back in 1994, when I was still wearing shorts, as pointed out by the host, Martin Coyne.
Guests are entertained over the weekend, starting with a gala dinner on Sunday night, followed by a celebrity golf day the next morning. The objective is to donate a Sunshine Coach to various schools, this year's lucky recipient was Queensbury School in Erdington, Birmingham.
Amongst the celebrities attending were; Kevin Whately, Tiff Needell, Warren Clarke, Len Goodman, Paul Jones, Willie Thorne and Keith O'Keefe to name but a few.

Variety Club Golfing Society Captain's Day at Walton Heath
Yesterday the first golf day of the season, the annual Variety Club Golfing Society Captain's Day, got off to a chilly start but it soon warmed up when the loyal celebrities and supporters turned out in force at Walton Heath golf course to support this worthwhile charity!
As usual, some of them had to struggle through 3 hours of M25 traffic, nothing new there, but all arrived safely.
This year's captain, Kevin Whately, opened the show with a great drive, as you can see from his reaction below. Other celebrities attending were Russ Abbott, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Roger de Courcy, Ian Irving, David Redfern, Paul Jones, Joe Goodman, Pat Jennings, Dave Bassett, Jess Conrad, Ray Clemence, Ian Balding and Chris Hollins.
Kevin Whately presented a mini bus to Woodlands Meed School from all the members of The Variety Club of Great Britain Golfing Society.
This year's co-sponsers were Anthony Trafford and the ever colourful Gavin Wilding!

Ian Irving was the unfortunate soul who spent longer on the M25 than on the golf course! But still did a great job on the auction.

THE BENEVOLENT CHARITY BALL 14th March 2013
Over 300 people attended this fantastic event at the Dorchester in support of the Benevolent Drinks Industry Charity. The Benevolent addresses a variety of serious issues and diseases under its umbrella such as Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neuron Disease, Homelessness and Poverty.
Some of the Industry Partners and Supporters attending were J.F.Hillebrand, Porter &Laker, Diageo, Chivas Brothers, Emporia First Drinks and International Wine Challenge to name but a few.
